Nobody really owns domain names, domain name is created when an organization or an individual decide to start a venture or an association or an informational website and the venture decide to use same name with an extension they choose for Communication / public relations using Technology. Consider it as a temporary license to use a name until you have a Trade name or license Trade Mark associated with it. If you do not have a trade license or Trade Mark anyone can claim this name with relevant documents.
